Kenyan church ladies are staring at a crisis – lack of suitors. Indeed, it appears the lasses lack the spirit to charm the brethren in the church. And so, the Sisters in Christ, it seems, are peeved, even desperate. A few weeks ago, there was a trending banter on Facebook. A lady complained that men, within her church, were increasingly marrying outside the faith she professes. She aptly put it that despite their beauty, demeanour, and dress code, the gentlemen have seemingly lost interest in their sisters in Christ.
Funny or ironical? Maybe both.
The post elicited a lot of mixed reactions from across the audience. Astoundingly, the allegation by the lady came out to be the biggest dilemma many ‘saved’ ladies face going by the comments that were made.
In all that was said, two things stood out: that the Christian religion and particularly denomination, have led to stereotyping amongst adherents and that religiosity does not necessarily guarantee happiness and fulfilment.
That most church-going ladies are distressed on matters relationships is now an open secret. Through their own naivety, entitlement, holier-than-thou caricature, a misconception of “a-better-deal-down-the bend”, and sundry nonsensical ignorance have produce very desperate ladies around. It’s sad. Pity them ladies of the pew. In fact, there was this comment from a renowned writer and literary figure who pointed out that back in the days, marrying a lady professing the faith of the denomination which the lady belongs to was guaranteed posterity. Not anymore.
Pandora’s box
According to him, a lot has changed and cases of holy matrimonies disintegrating shortly after being tied are on the rise. Mind you, these rituals at the altar are usually very expensive with most costing millions of shillings. At the centre of this discussion was the role the modern woman plays in her being ‘ignored’ and ‘abandoned’. Turns out the post by the aggrieved lady opened a Pandora box with many who cared to comment pointing an accusing finger to the ladies in the said denomination occasioning the plight befalling them.
The argument was that these ladies live a double life, are materialistic and ‘play hard to get.’ That majority of them act holy just on their worship day but they are the devil’s agents the rest of the week. Of course this goes against Christian teachings which demand that the image of Christ ought to be reflected at all times and in all places. The innuendos don’t stop there as it was revealed that marriages among these adherents are hitting rock-bottom just like those in the secular world. One wonders what has happened to the Church which traditionally was looked up to on nearly every aspect of societal well-being.
But the answer lies with a chap called Amerix. Check out Twitter on Saturday. The hashtag #MasculinitySaturday is robust, cuts to the chase and holds no prisoners. It’s a household name now. Amerix advises men on how to be real men and how to deal with the other gender. Amerix designs a topic for each weekend which in turn becomes the trending hashtag.
He is so against giving the womenfolk any opportunity for leverage over men. As anyone would expect, Amerix weighed in the debate on Church girls. He was categorical that church girls are the most deceitful creatures we have who have sinned by sleeping around the most and who have messed up so many men’s frames…
So, what next?
