Oh, in 2013 I lived in LinkedInshire…

Let everyone praise the tube for its Tujuane, Churchil Show or Bull’s Eye. For me, there was little to sing hosannas about our local TV. I got elegies though for one world – the Internet – more so the village called LinkedIn and its inhabitants.

The Internet is indeed a tantalising world of Zeroes and Ones (0,1) – the codes that run the computer- that have afforded millions of human beings to be connected on the web. For a mere mortal of my fabric, millions of followers I don’t have, but I have a string of faithful ones. In the course of the year, they accepted my link request much as they requested. It is this virtual string of friends that have endorsed my profile so generously neither demanding a dime nor a like back… and to that, I’ve always been humbled.

In this year, some of you have taken the pain of writing stimulating blogs or to jot witty statements, while most of you have linked us with little gems from the treasure trove of the Internet. You took your time to scout for fascinating stuff so that lazy bones like us can quickly get informed.

Comparatively, of our mini-villages in the global spectrum, residents of LinkedIn have demonstrated sophistry, restraint and sobriety far much better than their counterparts in other social media platforms.

I, at my humble station, I’ve never come across absurdities or nudity. Guys, you can wink for yourself. Unlike other sections of the blogosphere, which are awash with vulgar, irrationalities, lust for attention, slurs and well, mediocrity that points out insufficiency in their intellectual vaults. Still, for smart people on LinkedIn, come 2014, wouldn’t it be cool to share insights so that the society can go beyond likes on comments or links to websites? This way, this platform could be richer and more useful.

In this platform, you could easily see the desirous designs of human beings to be in a social club. You could read their joys in the announcements made and the congrats on new jobs. Some brave ones went ahead to solicit for jobs or contracts….now they came to me as smart. The purpose of LinkedIn is to for the furtherance of ones professional opportunities. Next Year (2014) I will also come to some of you for such opportunities!

Finally, I found it quite interesting to disembark from the virtual to the real life. It was a year of little sweet surprises bumping on some connections in the streets or coffee shops. You can imagine the surprise first and then the cheer! Perhaps the gods live here in this small village called LinkedIn.

Happy New Year Folks.
